Sketching Stripes

From bloggers to local and international celebrities;
it is evident that fashion trends dictate one's way of dressing.
And during these past few days, we witnessed a classical trend which required people to go it's vertical and/or horizontal direction.
That's tight, i'm talking about the "Stripe Trend:"

Since it had become one of the biggest trend so far for this year, and I keep on seeing them worn by numerous people every time. I got inspired to sketch some designs incorporating stripes!

- So for the first look, I wanted to show that you can be sexy even if you're covered with fabrics.
The key element here has to be the top, for in here; I incorporated both diagonal and horizontal stripes for a mod feel. To make it more interesting, I would like to make the sleeves out of chiffon. I think giving it a bit of see-throughness would be dope.
For a more sexier feel, I matched the top with a kin tight riding pants and heeled boots.

- For the second look, I decided to use cropped top and mini skirt.
In here, the stripes are thin, for a nautical feel; this is because I don't want this look to be grungy but more classy.

- For the 3rd look,
I drew a maxi skirt, and in order to make it more original; I added a sexy slit.

- And lastly, to set this look apart from the others; I decided to make a one-piece dress.
It's body hugging and see through. I also planned a strategy in order to cover up the areas that needs to be covered, which you can see on the illustration above.

That's all, folks!
Which one is your fave from this collection? :)

Disney Inspired Fashion Sketches Wave 2

And the posts inspired by Disney continues!
This time, i'm going to show you three Fashion sketches inspired by one classical Disney movie:
Cinderella

And so you ask, how come Cinderella gets a special treatment of three looks?
Well, it's simply because, even though Sleeping Beauty is my favorite, the movie Cinderella still has the most memorable and classical story line of them all. Plus, she featured the greatest number of costumes compared to other princesses in their respective movies; so I figured she should also have the most designs from me too.

In the movie, Cinderella is shown in 6 different costumes: her nightgown, her maid costume, the pink dress, the ruined pink dress, the bluish white gown and her wedding gown.
From these, I decided to get three looks and use them as my inspirations for my designs.

The first costume that served as my inspiration is the one made by Cinderella's critter friends for her.
I remember back when I was a kid, I always insist that dress looks so much better than her signature one; but enough about that, let's move on to my design:

Using the pink dress as my inspiration, I was able to come up with another pink dress. This time, I made it more modern and sassier. I was able to do this by making the dress short and adding fun elements to it like sequins and frills.

(Sorry for the random emo quote, haha)
For the second  look, I once again used the pink dress as my inspiration; but this time it was already in its bad condition as made by Cinderella's step sisters,
and this is what I came up with:

Okay, maybe she looks more like Lady GaGa than Cinderella, LOL; but anyway
for this look, I was able to channel my grungy style.
Since Cinderella's dress is ripped, I decided to recreate this look by ripping a white sweater in random ways.
This way, I was able to make a design that is not literally Cinderella but still inspired by her.

And of course, I can't afford to forget her signature gown.

And this is my version of it.
As you can see, I removed the poofiness of the dress, this is because I decided to make it look sexier and more seductive.
This way Cinderella will be sure that her prince will always stay by her side. ;-)
Aside from revising the dress, I also edited her glass slippers.
I made 'em into glass stripper heels, for a more modern vibe.

So once again, here are the three looks I made for Cinderella:

Which one is your fave?

Disney Inspired Sketches Part 1

In my last outfit post, I promised to talk more about Disney.
For I am a big fan of it and am excited to share my thoughts and experiences about it with you.
So for this post, I decided to sketch some deigns inspired by three of the Disney Princesses specifically Snow White, Jasmine(from Aladin,) and Aurora(Sleeping Beauty.)

(Looks from left to right: Snow White, Jasmine, Aurora)

The first look that I would wanna talk about is the one inspired by Snow White:
With her being the first Disney Princess ever created by Disney, it is safe to say that she is the most popular one. She was introduced on the late 30's and her signature dress is a representation of class and romance.
And I believe that I was able to capture these three characteristics with this modern mini dress.
This dress has two printed fabrics combined to feature modernness and sophistication, however I didn't just left the dress alone for it kinda looks old. So I added a belt with a cropped tail-like detail. This way, the design appears to be more thought through and interesting.

Princess Jasmine:
Princess Jasmine is from the movie Aladin, and she came from the Middle Eastern kingdom of Agrabah.
Being born a princess, she is known for having a lot of golden jewelries.
A blue green off shoulder bra with matching harem pants and gold shoes are her signature outfit and I based my design from these.
Like her signature clothes, I also gave Princess Jasmine two pieces of garments:
A detailed crop top and printed silk harem pants.
For the top, I made it look Arabian-inspired by adding a gold solid neck piece. This neck piece is sewn together with the garment, making it look expensive and fit for a Princess.
For the pants, I made it look literally Disney, by adding a print of the Genie from the movie Aladin. I imagine these pants to be made from a silky material like silk, for it to reflect cool and interesting colors.
I also added a lot of gold bangles and gold gladiator shoes to finish up the prestigious modern Arabian look.

Princess Aurora:
Aurora or Briar Rose is currently my favorite Disney princess right now.
Both because of her look and her movie's story line.
That is why apart from the other two looks that're inspired by the princesses' physical characteristics, I decided to make this design different by basing it from the story and not from the character.
(shh! Sleeping Beauty is Sleeping LOL)
This mini dress is made completely from fine leather. It has uneven cuts on the skirt, to create a more modern and interesting look.
However the main focus here are the spikes that are located on the shoulder pads and the edges of the dress. This is because in the movie, Princess Aurora was put into a spell by a witch by having her prick her finger on a needle, thus giving me the idea of incorporating sharp objects in the design.
This dress is noticeably dark and Gothic for these are the emotions that are often felt by me every time I watch or get reminded of the movie.

And that's it :)
3 designs in one post,
Watch out for more :)))

Fashion Sketches - Here's to Never Growing Up

"They say just grow up, but they don't know us
we don't give a f***"

Earlier this month, Avril Lavigne made a comeback in the music industry with the single "Here's to Never Growing Up." Ever since its release date, I've been listening to this song non stop and it even inspired me to do some Fashion sketches..

I managed to do 3 looks for this song:
The first two looks that I want to talk about is inspired mainly of the emotion the song gives me. It has this really good tune and message which advice people to be carefree, have fun and live for the moment.
And I think I was able to capture that message with these looks for I was able to combine a lot of elements like neon colors, fishnets, denim, leather etc.

The look on the left is a bit too sexy, but I like it. Especially the bib-like fishnet top that I designed. I think that made the outfit really playful and interesting.

For the second look, I decided to draw a vest and a skirt that're entirely made from leather. This is because Avril Lavigne has the "Punk Princess" image and I think leather is always associated with punk. To make these two elements more interesting, I added some zipper details.

And here's the 3rd and final look:
This look is my favorite among the three. Maybe because it's a little bit different from what I've been doing lately: It's a dressier choice compared to the others.

Another thing that is often associated with Punk is fishnets. So I tried to use this element and make it somehow classy. I paired the fishnets with light blue painted leather cutouts to make it more futurisstic and exciting.

And that's all for this post :)

Fashion Sketches - We Can't Stop

Being a Fashion Design student, drawing is in my alley.
I'm lucky that I happen to have the hands that're equipped in drawing, that's why even though i'm not taking my majors yet; i'm still able to sketch and project my fashion ideas into paper.

For my blog, I want to feature not only my outfits but also my art. So I decided to make a segment called "Fashion Sketches" In which I will post looks that're drawn by me. Plus, this can also be an instrument for me to help my female viewers in dressing up for it is often women's wear that I get to design.

Recently, I've been obsessing about Miley Cyrus' new song "We Can't Stop."
And since it is a fact that music and fashion has a close relationship with each other, this song didn't fail to inspire me to sketch and compose a look about it. The music video also helped me visualize more about the song.

Without further ado, here are the sketches that I've made that're inspired by the song:

So for the first look, I've always imagined a girl dancing to that song in a one piece, deep v-neck, black leather romper.

I matched this romper that I've designed with fishnet pantyhose and stripper heels:

The next look is composed of a crop top with suspender-like details and the word "FINE" written on the middle of it. I matched this unique top with a two-patterned high waist-ed short shorts.

For the footwear, I decided to use the classic Doc Martens punk boots with high socks:

The third look that is designed by me is my favorite one from this bunch.
It features a crop top with the words "TOP OF THE LINE" written on it, suspenders, and an extremely distressed boyfriend jeans:

For the shoes, I just went for pointy high heeled shoes, for if a girl is wearing baggy jeans; it is a must for her to wear high heels:

And for the last look that is included in this post is this leather dress with zipper details on its edges:

I Imagined this dress to be all black and is made from good pleather.
For the shoes, I decided to be more futuristic and pair it with leather booties that also have a lot of zipper details:

For all the looks in general, I refused to add a lot of accessories for i'm already convinced that these clothes can already make a statement by themselves.

What do you think of these designs?
Thanks :))
